Shinobi, in my opinion. It's one of my favorite games, from that generation. Extremely polished, tight controls, great boss fights, and one of the best soundtracks from that era.

I've never really understood the hype with Ninja Gaiden. I bought it when it came out, and I don't ever remember being that impressed by it. It's not bad. It's just okay, from what I remember. Just kind of a standard action game.

When it came out, I remember Ninja Gaiden receiving unreal levels of praise. After playing it, I just thought "This is it? It feels like I'm playing a different game." It was praised to the high heavens, and I don't think it was anywhere near the same level of quality as Shinobi.

TLDR: I like Shinobi, a lot. Ninja Gaiden is okay, but one of the most overrated games I've ever played.
