It was the start of the stupid superhuman Wesker shit that carried into the modern RE games. Also the voice acting is on par with RE1's... not that there's anything inherently wrong with that, it just felt like a step back considering how much improved 2 and 3's acting was.

I never played them since I didn't have a network adapter at the time, so I didn't really see the point.

Absolutely not. There's a charm to its horrendous acting, and it's still a decent challenge.

Dead Space managed to have great gameplay and scary atmosphere. RE5 and 6 have no excuses for being shitty
