polmapguy here. Hopefully this won't cause another doomkart shitstorm.

I made a very crude test track for doomkart and made the floor track low friction (like the ice floors in hexen) and with the low friction floors it ends up that the doomkart pre-alpha feels a lot more like a kart game.

Essentially it provides drifting, though you can still turn a lot quicker than you could in a kart game. I have a feeling that if you just limited the player input (not sure how to do that) so that you had a maximum turn input it would feel really really close to a kart game.

There would still be quite a bit of work after that but you'd have the bare bones of a kart game.
