Super fantasy zone is just unreal but there are many other the cartoon looking games that are great too.

I know what you mean, many Genesis games have a sort of dirty grainy look to them somewhat like EGA graphics but a couple of steps about that. I really think part of it is that developers were using uncalibrated tv's and also it could have a been a style choice to have gritty realistic for the time graphics to be different from 8 bit systems.
The master system has plenty of those pastel coloured games so I think it was the developers choice.

I personally think the colours in alien storm are really good, not everyone agrees though. EA and many western especially sports games have that grainy look with clashing colours near each other but Kid Chameleon is one of the worst in a few levels.

Seems like a real bargain with more colours than a $2000 pc but they really sting you on the carts at the time, suddenly not such a bargain.

Because dumb people would think the system is broken and ask for a refund. In a magazine review of axelay they complain of flicker and act like its a big deal but I haven't seen it when playing it.

Like in Aladdin but I prefer it to games that waste the screen space by having characters to the right of the screen so you can see enemies quick enough such as in popful mail.

It would have just been better to not use dithering, there are enough colours if you design the image properly even on nes and sms
