You murricans do it all the time, see the recent butthurt about renaming Shing Meteorite to Kor Meteorite in Tales of Hearts R official transation because muh murrican children are apparently too dumb to make 2+2 and notice that all characters are named after hard stones or make a fucking search on google, not to mention that fan translation that renamed Hisui Jadeite and Kohaku Amber.

Not to mention all the ridiculous shit about renaming characters because the names aren't exotic or cool enough like Tina becoming Terra or Mash becoming Sabin or the remain in the Chrono series, Slash, Ozzie and Flea, the Masamune etc., stop trying to find an excuse for your terribad translators, they widely used transliteration when it pleased them and completely ignored translation rules because of their dumb ass logic and lack of knowledge in ethics and theory of translation.
