Prefer picrel but I don't do Xbox/PS2, mostly just 16-bit and Dreamcast/PS1

Even better now that we have proper USB and Bluetooth controllers for every console + TV sticks like picrel

It's just my TV in my bedroom and a couple of Bluetooth SEGA controllers. If you want to hide your setup, just switch to emulation. They won't even see the TV Stick

$15 Walmart stick + Bluetooth Genesis controller

Lately all I really use is my Famiclone handheld though. Back to minimal gaming for me

>$20 TV Stick
>OTG cable
>cheap USB drive
>Genesis bluetooth controller
>secondhand Vizio flatscreen
Idk if it's the best, but it's pretty good

This is what I do. I still own all of my retro hardware but I never use it anymore since emulating is just easier + I have access to every retro console this way.

>>10613719
It's a little of both it seems. The major distributors are supported by the younger crowd who gullibly choose to collect on original hardware rather than just emulating or buying a modern compilation. This is why I suggest that if somebody wants to own a game physically, they should go with the latter.

There is no reason to spend upwards of $100 on a single retro game when you can find it for cheaper on a regular modern console or Steam while supporting the actual developers. Emulation is obviously the best option but some people are weird about that for whatever reason

I literally use a $20 TV stick from Wal-Mart, runs everything up to Dreamcast and PSP. I use a separate stick for Saturn stuff since it's slightly more demanding. I do still own my childhood consoles but I never play them anymore when RetroArch is just quicker, plus I have a lot of games/consoles on it that I don't own

The Wal-Mart stick will play everything up to Dreamcast and PSP but you'll have to buy controllers and a 2-in-1 OTG cable for storage. RetroArch is very easy to set up though, same with Mupen64Plus, PPSSPP, etc.

It is a matter of preference and how much you value authenticity over affordability. I got my retro consoles when they were new as a kid but prefer to emulate nowadays since it's both cheaper and more convenient for me.

>>10367002
This is very close to my setup but using a TV stick instead of a PC/laptop. It works very well imo

That is one of them, personally I just use the $20 stick from Walmart. Once you set up external storage it's great, I have full romsets for all of the Nintendo consoles, Genesis, 32X, and SEGA CD. If you want more power then go for something like Shield TV or just a Series S|X. They can handle Saturn, GameCube, and PS2.

I just use pic related with RetroArch and a couple of rom sets I downloaded, though if I'm being honest I spend more time playing my Famiclone and Brick game handhelds and occasionally my X20 Mini

The Walmart stick works fine for most games. Even better if you just have Android or Fire TV built in. For Saturn and beyond there's always the Shield TV

They are just basic TV boxes with Emulation Station installed on them. You could "make" one yourself with a generic TV box and an SD card. There's a video about it somewhere but can't remember where

Personally if it's just for low end consoles you could just use the Walmart stick and download RetroArch on that... Very easy to set up and will save you like $60-$80
