It has one of the worst assault rifles in gaming.

It kind-of works better as an Aliens-themed quasi-horror about slogging through gloomy spaceship corridors counting out how many pistol rounds you can afford than a run'n'gun game.

That being said, its shotgun is probably the most fun in any FPS, even better than Doom 2's super shotgun.

Controversial take: Marathon 1 has aged better graphically than the others. 2 and Infinity had too many attempts at making organic-looking stuff with not enough polygons that don't work as well.
