I feel like a retard but let me explain. I've had a SNES since it was released and have been obsessed with it ever since. When I was in my mid twenties I brought my SNES and a copy of some game with the locking tab over to my friends house. We played the game non stop all weekend to beat it 100%. On the Sunday morning we decided to play a different game. My friend unplugged everything and we hooked up the NES instead. I couldn't get the game out of the SNES. I pulled on it and was pushing the release button. Nothing was happening. It felt like it was jammed. My friend is a certified Engineer and I have a mechanical background. We started to diagnose why the game wouldn't come out. We were trying to open the little flap and see what the game was stuck on. We even contemplated disassembling a spare SNES that I had at my house to see how the mechanics inside could possibly jam against the cartridge or why the release mechanism wouldn't lift the game out. 20 minutes later we came to the following conclusion.

Turns out my friend didn't pull the power tab back to the OFF position and just turned off the power bar and unplugged the system when disconnecting things. We never thought to slide the power tab back because the system wasn't powered up so we didn't see the little red LED and assumed it was in the OFF position. It also felt tight when trying to slide it back. This was the only time I ran into this problem and I am almost too embarrassed to share this story. And like I said, I played this system for thousands of hours as a kid and adult and never had an issue. I can only imagine what some dumb kid ran into back in the 90s.

There were two absolute shit parts in this game. There was one point near the beginning where I needed an upgrade and scoured the map for it. Couldn't figure out any new areas or where to go so I ended up doing an infinite bomb jump in an area with collapsing floors and had to do it diagonally to get to the top left of the room. Took me 20 minutes but I did it and got a bunch of upgrades and it was smooth sailing. Then I got stuck in the area with Metroids floating around and during a cutscene type section you get latched onto and die in 10 seconds. I thought it was telling me I couldn't go through there so I spent another hour or two just exploring the entire map. Got fed up and looked at a guide. You have to get latched onto and then shoot and bomb your way through the glass to the left and even after knowing this it took me 5 tries because I kept dying as I was a couple frames away from the edge of the screen. Really frustrating but other than those two parts I had so much fun.
