My modded drive (modded myself) has been working flawlessly so far. It helps that it was a relatively recent unit and saw little use (and I know that for a fact because it was the server my dad's business's website used to run on).
I am keeping my eyes out for a good deal on an original though.

Sure, but they aren't exactly pennies either and I'm a university student in America.
They're a lot more than four DRAM chips and I'm a decent solderer.
I don't care if it's ugly; I'd not desolder the existing chips. I take function over form every time, and I don't exactly look at the RAM while the system is in use.
Also I have an electric PACE desoldering station from the late '80s.

Okay i tried looking it up and getting a straight answer but all i got was a plebbit thread that said "Guh-Huh! AlL oF ThEm R gUuUd!1!!!1!"

I wanna finally play through this game, which version should I go with? The NES version is archaic and missing the bonus stuff put in later, the SNES version is beautiful but apparently the Fan Translation causes the game to become undone toward the end, or so I hear. The Gameboy Color version is small and also graphically lacking, and the android version is the android version. Which one have you guys played? What would you recommend?

What exactly did this game innovate?
The combat system was already done before. The class change system was already done before. The day/night cycle was already done before. NPCs reacting to what you do was done before. Is it only nostalgia?

What is it about DQ3 that makes it so beloved and well-received among all the other DQ games? Not to put it down or anything, I love it to death, but what about games like 4 or 6? Were they just not received as well as 3?
