I won't disagree with you on it looking bland, but at the time I originally bought it, my main Genesis was a Model 3, so they sort of went together. It was also the easiest/safest way to get my hands on a 1CHIP.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on an "original" SNES with a 1CHIP to use as well, so I could keep the Mini paired off with the 3. That is to say, I don't mind the looks of the US SNES.

Given the GB line all use single sided edge connectors, you really don't get as much help from the cart slot in holding it against the contacts
Perhaps a small bit of clear plastic held in place with a clear adhesive, so as to blend in better? Anything to wedge the connector against the contacts a bit better.
