I'm an idiot. I'm a giant, colossal retard. Pic related is me, and up there is my tripcode.

So it seems that this wasn't the first time I thought of a Battle Clash/Super Metroid connection. A year or more ago, some time after I'd first posted about the sounds I found in Super Metroid, I thought of checking Battle Clash and Metal Combat as potential sources for those sounds--the idea being that they were both developed by the same people who made Super Metroid, the unidentified two voices I found might have been leftovers from those games. Well, I ripped Metal Combat's sound samples, listened to a few of them, and... completely forgot that I did this until today, when I opened my SNESSOR folder and *thought* I still had my Super Metroid rip saved there, completely forgetting that I moved that to its own folder and ripped MC to the SNESSOR folder. So I spent close to an hour earlier convinced that I was listening to Metroid SFX (to be fair, they do seem to use some of the same instrument samples) when I wasn't, and unwittingly posting absolute bullshit about there being leftovers from another game in SM. It wasn't until I reached the end and realized I never heard "The last Metroid..." that I realized what an idiotic mistake I had made. Please call me a stupid faggot.

THAT BEING SAID... since I went through of reviewing every sound sample in Metal Combat (and then Battle Clash after that), I can safely rule out the original two samples that I'd discovered (the ones I first posted about and tried to bring to TCRF's attention) being leftovers from either of those titles. No, these are 100% unidentified and native to Super Metroid, as far as I can tell, and they're unused by any creatures in the game (continued in next post 'cause I was hitting the character limit):
