I have seen Sonic was shit to Sega was never good. Also watched Valve was never good transition to Half-life was always shit. I figure I just love bad games, as I don't see the appeal of Minecraft and Fortnite at this time from afar.

It was just a response to the OP mentioning Sonic games, which used the sound chips of the Genesis which are not to everyone's tastes. However, I do think some good sound and music can be produced from them.

You're right, I knew it was bad to repost an image I took a while back and I only remembered the 3 she did vocals for I had on my usual MSR playlist: Holding On, It Doesn't Really Matter, and Am I Only Dreaming. I paired those with other songs with the other ones I felt were best for the song rotation when I played the game. I kind of ignored and forgotten the other tracks she did in the game.

Yeah, I got Sonic R back in the day from a small independent videogame news/review website sweepstakes. I assumed I got it because no one marked a Saturn game for their two top choices of prize to win. So I was pretty happy to get the game for free, I was initially immediately appalled at the lyrics, switched to non-lyrics for the gameplay (replays always played the opposite), however not soon after the replays lyrics did grow on me and I honestly liked the Sonic R songs with lyrics (in small doses like the replays). Even back then no one else liked the lyrics. I was also honestly surprised when I first heard some songs in MSR and I immediately recognized Sega's lack of budget hiring the same low budget singer (unlike Sony which featured their music label and the budget for more songs for Gran Turismo soundtracks). I will say as the only singer Sega could afford, TJ Davis made the most of it and made Sonic R and MSR memorable to me.

Yeah, sometimes I would play the game in a CD-player, skip the first data tracks and enjoy the music.

I think JP MegaCD Sonic CD and Saturn Thunderforce 5 spent more time in my CD player than played on the consoles themselves.

My favorite. Love the music. It's probably the nostalgia speaking, but I still enjoy the game a lot despite the flaws everyone here mentions. I don't speedrun, nor am I into the game just to go fast. I do like exploring going all over, so the time travel mechanic just allowed me to go around collecting as many coins as possible searching out the nook and crannies of every stage. It has been established that I like bad games here on 4chan, so yes after CD, my next favorite is Chaotix, and I do not feel my shit taste is exposed, as it's just what I enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't played Sonic Mania yet, but I am pretty excited as seeing the footage is exactly what I want out of the game. I am not looking for excellence in game design, but just a good time. The footage of Sonic Mania does appear to have the "flow" and "rhythm" to the stages which has me really interested. The songs so far does have a feel of SonicCD to me which is in tune with my tastes.

Funny enough, my personal favorite bonus stages are the ones from 1 (and the polygon sections of Chaotix) as it still exercises some platforming game mechanics.

I used to get a lot of games [spoiler[bootlegged[/spoiler] on DOS with some small executable showing off some visual techniques and nice music. Then I got Zone 66 by Epic Megagames and then I learned about the demoscene which does do some nice tricks, and sometimes push hardware in impressive (to me) ways. While Zone 66 is not one of those "all time great" games, I loved playing it and its music a lot. Seeing those hacks on the Sonic Retro site, some are pretty skillfully done. Taxman's recreations are pretty good in my opinion. The footage I saw of Sonic Mania so far does demonstrate some knowledge of the flow and rhythms I most like in speed-styled stages of the old Sonic games, so long as Sonic is played (Tails flying may ruin a lot of the stage design). I don't speedrun my way through Sonic games, I tend to explore around, but that's how I've enjoyed playing the games, everyone is allowed the freedom to play it how they like to, and fortunately from what I have seen, the stages are much more expansive catering to me:

Ah, sorry, I misinterpreted that. I am still super jealous of you having the SegaCD version still. My salt can still insure nothing will grow around me.

I think in the original Sonic CD games you can go fast enough that the enemies can spawn above the ground they move on, so you can see them drop into place. I did play the rerelease on 360 and it is as I remembered it minus the aforementioned enemy spawning issue. Also I think the newer widescreen releases does not reset the timer if you time travel, so it is somewhat restrictive in the way I play Sonic games where I explore as much of the whole stage as permissible, collecting as much as I can. Which for CD, means I go present -> bad future -> past -> good future.
