Picked up a cheap complete copy of the original version in excellent condition a while back (because $35 counts as cheap compared to what I've seen it go for these days; was over $70 last I checked). Haven't gotten all that much time to invest in it so far but I really liked what I've played of it. Going to need to invest the time it deserves this summer.

I've seen a few that haven't immediately devolved into that, and remained fairly good throughout. Sadly even starting a thread on the topic of the series seems to be enough of a prompt for horrific dumps of that sort of thing. Kind of sad really.

Klonoa is one of those hidden gems. It had zero advertising and a limited print run, so the only way anyone can know about the series is through word of mouth by very few, but very devoted fans. So of course they HAVE to hype it up to get people interested. If you're not one of those people, then that's okay.

But if you are saying that the game should have spoken for itself back then and people will have known it's good immediately after release, then you don't need to look further than the advertising to this poor little game.
