I got it back then because the preview screenshots were so impressive looking to me. It was very colorful coupled with how much I loved games from Treasure, I got the game before having the system to play it. I think it gained popularity because it was also on the Wii which was pretty popular.

This game looked so good in magazine screenshots of the day, I had to get it. It was one of my first 6 games (includes all 3 Treasure games) I owned even when I did not have a N64. Surprising it doesn't use the RAM expansion to achieve such amazing visuals.

I did. I t was one of the first 5 games I got for the console. The screenshots in magazines were so impressive, I had to have it. Brought the game over to friends places just to play it on their N64s.

A very fun game with very cool mechanics. Was a system seller for me and remains a top game on it.

The Aki wrestling games like WrestleMania 2000, No Mercy, and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 all are d-pad primary games I loved.

The controller is actually kind of tiny. Cramped and uncomfortable like a stock Dreamcast controller.

Shit, I regret to this day only buying one back then because everyone brought their own controller for the N64 when we all would meet. I did not have the foresight to get multiples. Now they are around $65USD each for a used one. Just one was enough, but I didn't have the money to get more than one then either.

This is why I am still hoping for the 3D printings of the bowl to get cheap for the standard sticks.

I would say "I have the proficiency of a Japanese special needs 3rd grader." I can completely understand games written for babies like Grandia for Sega Saturn and be annoyed with the hiragana only SFC Final Fantasy 4. I will struggle with PS Xenogears and start glazing over with a Romance of the Three Kingdoms game. Custom Robo has light JRPG elements and I think most non-speakers can go through it ok (so far as I've played, I somewhat recently got those in that picture).

Hehe, that's funny and a great idea.

Oh yeah, and to the anon that kept reminding me to get the US version of AstroBoy, I did ... because you told me to do so.

I try if I could.

The reason for the chip not having any marks is beyond my knowledge. Someone else may know better.

My images on this board tend to be of some games and a handwritten note, typically on my table. I suppose it annoys people that I would go through the "effort" composing a picture and posting, following the fallacy that people who have games don't play them. That or my constant lamenting of my poverty, which is misaligned with my desires for expensive gaming items like a large broadcast video monitor; but I really do wish I can afford and enjoy such luxuries.

Just giving the protip for next time a thread is started to not use an image which may lead people to believe it is me posting.

I think it is because the design guidelines for Japanese N64 boxes are the box dimensions and the square logo on the upper right, and maybe a few small icons indicating accessory support/player count. After that, the whole box is a canvas for an artist to populate, including deciding where the information icons are located. With the US boxes, they have a solid red bar with large icons on the right, a small foldover if exclusive for a "only for" the N64 logo on the upper right, and which may clash with the artwork or may not fit the mood an artist want to portray with the cover art.

I will say that the US Starfox 64 box is one of the most satisfying to hold though. The pic was made for another thread regarding Treasure, so don't get triggered.

Sin & Punishment. It was the first N64 game I played (bought a few before owning the system), and the visuals and play mechanics impressed me. It was fun for me then, and I still find it fun now. These days, I guess it is because it triggers a few people on /vr/ for what I see as "no real good reason."
