How is 3 difficult in any way? Unless you go full retard you'll never get stranded in hostile territory and there's always some solvable area available in case you can't break through an obstacle.

1 and 2 are difficult though particularly 2 borders on bullshit.

The PC-98 port is interesting since you can get a visual feedback for combat so you can see which enemy attacked you.
