Am I insane or is this game not actually that hard. The US version of The 7th Saga has this reputation of being one of the hardest JRPGs but I played it completely blind recently and got through it with no trouble at all. Died a handful of times early on but then never again. Infact I was genuinely surprised at how many conveniences the game offers for the time: The first rune you get lets you teleport to any visited town instantly, you can buy escape items to get out of dungeons in a pinch, you can see where random encounters are on a radar at the top of the screen and avoid them, you can continue from a game over and only lose a small amount of gold in an era where getting a game over in most JRPGs meant losing progress. The items are also ridiculously cheap and the game showers you with gold after each battle, you can afford a full inventory of potions and power up items pretty quickly. Speaking of the power up items, theyre broken as shit. The attack up item hardly costs anything and can buff your attack stat for the battle by like 300, its insane.

Full disclosure I did play as Wilme who I think has the best stats of all the characters but still I really expected this game to be brutal but if you just make sure you buy and use items and stop to level up for a bit in each new area, the game is genuinely on the easier side of JRPGs.

All that aside, I really enjoyed the game. Monster designs are bad ass and all the sprites are animated. Story was cool and the music is phenomenal. Great atmosphere too. If it weren't for the constant "Find specific NPC in town to progress" I wouldn't hesitate to say its in the top 3 JRPGs for the SNES.

Has anyone here actually beat this motherfucker? I started playing it a while ago and thought it looked really promising from the start, and mostly ignored the claims that many have made that it's the hardest RPG in the SNES library. I'm down for a good challenge but JESUS FISTFUCKING CHRIST this is the most brutal RPG I've ever encountered, easily.
Is it worth all the grinding and bullshit in the end or is it more frustration than it's worth? My only real complaint so far is just the difficulty, other than that I think it's fucking rad.

Probably the reason why every idiot thinks it's a port of the TG16 game.

pic related is mysterious and intriguing. The Japanese original while well drawn, is rather bland and generic.
