I'm the dude who posted Hurricanger

Although I liked that game when I was younger I never got to play GaoRanger and completely ignored that they kept making games like that for PS2.

I wanted to say that because although not retro I remember watching some footage from the Kamen Rider Kabuto game and be equally impressed like when I first played Hurricanger on the PS1. Even regarding the gameplay it wasn't that bad (a couple of good ideas based on the Kabuto's premise).

I don't know, it always stuck with me the idea of games like that, looking really good and having OK gameplay being completely obscure.
