They don't really need the assets, not for a real remake. I mean they could have just done it for PSP (would have cost way less) crisis core looked fine and they could have just released a console/pc port of that later.
Instead of wasting all that time and resources on that Vincent game and FF Type 0 which no one played we could have had a pretty decent PSP based remake of FF7 with the CC engine.

SE would have made the fans happy and they would be rolling in cash. It’s like they have no common sense.
