Yeah, I agree with you. I usually try and keep my games clean and simple as possible. But I do like the look of NTSC filters along with a light smattering of scanlines for a classic CRT effect while playing Kega

And yes, I'm aware that Decap Attack may not be the best example of the "superiority" of emulator filters
