Love this series which pretty much got me into the genre. I kind of favor 5 and Gaiden, but there's so many good things about each that it is a tough decision.

How can one even pick? They're something great with almost all the games. It's been fun in the arcades, MSX computers, and everything since. Got me addicted to the genre.

Yeah, I had to get a lot of those back then to save. They are a decent inexpensive option.

I have tried it. It is a very cool game. The mechanics and story was interesting and looks great. I am a fan of their games.

I thought it was really cool that the other Vic Viper was you from a different time. The music and Treasure involvement was what got me interested in V. I remember reading an interview that they wanted to play around with the gameplay with the options.

I am super old, but only with the NES. Played its predecessors only via what my older cousins had. Felt good bringing the NES over there for them to enjoy the games for all sorts of fun. The NES was my launching pad and foundation for the games I continue to enjoy. I do hold the NES, Transformers, Sega, Ghibli, etc. responsible to my warped young mind associating Japan as where the best stuff was made from as they all had the "made in Japan" label.

Pretty good, but it is hard to choose one to be the greatest even when restricted to console only shooting games. There's Recca and Crisis Force for the Famicom, Thunder Force 4 and Musha Aleste for the Mega Drive, Gate of Thunder and Soldier Blade for the PC-Engine, Thunder Force 5 for the Saturn, Einhander for the Playstation ... I could keep going. Gradius Gaiden and 5 are pretty great though. There are a lot of great ones for the arcade, and don't count out PC either. I have no idea if there is one that is supreme over all others, as there's so much greatness to enjoy.

For a parody game, the developers were more free to explore new gameplay ideas, do whatever they want, and mix all sorts of styles. I get a bit obsessive about juggling the Twinbee bells to the right colors for maximum benefit which clashes with the need to get the powerup chips to buy the right ones. It still seems to be going strong through the Otomedius series, burned a lot of Microsoft Rewards points for all the DLC.

I cannot pick one. I find them all fun. I am currently replaying Sexy Parodius on the Saturn. With the original on the NES I have a fond memory associated with the game. The more recent releases like Gaiden and 5 have some wonderful refinements and unique takes on the formula.
