>>Worse story
Wrong. Bof4's story is rich in it's events and overflowing with buddhist symbolism and it's plot and world all reflect that. 3's plot meanwhile is disjointed, and relies to heavily on reinventing lore from part 1.
>>Lazy world map
3 wasn't exactly a champion in this regard either. 4 may have resorted to dots on a line but it does actually feel bigger when you zoom out.
>>Way worse dragon system
The gene system was overrated and idiotic extra step to an already streamlined process and it only LOOKs complex to dullards distracted by meaningless choices and shiny objects. You don't make your own dragons. There are finite combinations. There is no difference between picking Fire+dragon or just choosing a fire dragon. All you've added was an extra step.
>>Worse soundtrack
You are def. IV's soundtrack has way more style and variety. III's is good but it's at best functional.
>>Heavier use of soulless CG
It has some of the best CGI out of an RPG combined with also some of the best sprite work. Automatically kneejerking any time you see cgi is just you being obstinate on purpose.

IV has the better world, the better characters, the better combat system, the better villains and doesn't coast on nostalgia.

>Would you recommend IV to someone who dropped III?

Yeah, Id say give it a go. Like I said it's not without some pacing issues of it's own but it's got a much more visually distinct setting, the combat is better and generally there's a lot more going on to drive you as a player.

One cool thing it does is every so often it switches you over to play as the games antagonist as he makes his own journey. It's a bit underused in hindsight but it's pretty neat and really lets you get inside his head.

>yeah but the point of a moral compass is the fact that there can be people who legit thinks genocide of a particular race can be a beneficial thing whatever the reason.

which we as the viewer can see as wrong and without anything more than her word to back up her actions there's no weight.

>How about an actual species of whatever that is slowly dwindling humankind to the single digits? Would anyone think genocide is wrong when they themselves is at risk of being gone forever?

How about any number of things that didn't exist or happen in the game?

>That's really up for debate, Myria simply viewed them as a potential threat possibly attributed to the fact she developed a god complex and didn't want any competitors. The Brood themselves I believe didn't fight back because if they did then they would be perpetuating Myria's claims of the Brood as a bad race

and that's stupid. That doesn't work. It paints myria as a joke villain and it paints the brood as passive retards.

>Genocide in and of itself, no matter how inhumane it may seem, is not inherently wrong, cause you can paint that shit for either side and people can see that act as good/evil.

In the EXCEEDINGLY rare and specif instances where it was one race or another you might have a point. However this was not the case. You don't get points for Maybes

>The fact you view it as a wrong thing so strongly is just your opinion, to Myria, she still thinks she's doing the right thing.

and the problem is we never get inside her head. We don't see WHY she thinks that just that she does. It's boring.

A villain needs a motivation but that motivation also needs weight. Fou goes kill crazy too but we see him. We experience it all first hand and we see him break over the course of the game. the game goes out of the way to show what makes him come to his conclusion.

As for Myria we know she fears the brood but we never see why. the game goes out of the way to make the brood look like Martyrs

plus how many JRPGs actually let you play and see first hand the villains decent into madness. Probably a few I imagine. Still neat though.
