Technically speaking Powerslave uses an older version of the Engine with no slopes and no voxels. Powerslave's resolution only go as high as 640*400 while Blood could go 1600*1200.

But that's only technically speaking, I know you were talking about the art direction. I like both a lot but I probably like Blood better.
Powerslave's look is very repetitive, it's very yellow and brown, only in the last levels you start getting new colours

Here are some protips to make Powerslave controls more tolerable :
> if you set the "run" key as "capslock", you can actually have autorunning. No need to hold that shift key all the time anymore!
>and if you use that capslock autorunning; you can strafe super fast! The superfast strafing doesn't work with the 'strafe left' and 'strafe right' keys, however it works if you use 'strafekey + left' or 'strafekey + right' (again only if you use the autorunning capslock). So, by settings the Q and D keys to 'left' and 'right' (rather than strafe left/right in a normal WASD setting) and use a key like Lshift or Lctrl as "strafe" key; and hold that key anytime you want to strafe, you can use that superfast strafing.

Those 2 tips by Anonymous, and another one from me :

It's good but personally I still use DOSbox. The problem with the Steam versions is that they have a forced 32bit true 3D renderer. To me if it's not 8bit 2.5D it's not Build.

Yeah got it, thanks for the tip, it's really cool. I can bet it's a glitch though. Too bad I only find this out after I'm done replaying the game... oh well, I will always replay it again at some point.

BTW - this game has ONE usermap ever made for it. I guess it doesn't help that the game didn't come with the mapeditor so you have to do a little bit of trickery to make a map for it... The map is decent and be downloaded here. http://dukertcm.com/knowledge-base/downloads-rtcm/powerslave-maps/
Make sure to delete the files once you're done because it overwrites some art data as well as the first level of the game.

and also, this game has coop up to 4 players and 10 (!) DM-only maps. Dunno what they were thinking... but i wish those didn't exist and they made more SP maps in the meantime (unless those DM maps are actually cut parts of SP maps from the game, which they could be, i haven't checked...).
