I know The After is full or shit, but did they ever try to explain the "time flows differently in the land of summoned monsters" part? Considering the amount of time between losing child Rydia and gaining adult Rydia, I always thought she should look like a granny during the last scene of the game, and would have been long dead in a sequel.

If you're gonna play TAY, seek the WiiWare version. You'll find some enjoyment out of it if you temper your expectations and realize it's just a Japanese cellphone game. Interlude is utterly pointless. Don't even think about the 3D version, it cuts a lot of corners and misses a lot of content.
But think of the Final Fantasy sequels like those direct-to-video Disney sequels.
