Why does no one ever mention this? It's the English nes script in the ds version. with some edits to remove censorship. Definitely the best way to play IV in English I feel.

Sometimes their simplicity is welcomed. I only really like DQ, Mother, and pokemon since they aren't as "philosophical" and boil down to "kill god". Sometimes all I want to do is travel around a game world, fight monsters, and make allies. Their is a satisfaction in my opinion of seeing your characters grow.

You're upset its called DQX and implies its a main entry? Do you know how autistic that sounds? Its not like there is any real continuity between them for the most. Only smaller things like the zenithian stuff. Does it really matter that its in the main series?

the atmosphere is what makes dragon quest great. the gameplay can be tight and engaging sometimes but for the most part is very simplistic and repetitive. even tho i enjoyed 1, 3 and 5 they still felt very restrictive because of the flat 2D world and repetitive gameplay. 7 8 and 9 reach an immersion the older games simply can't accomplish.

What a shame dude, IV is my personal favorite but if you're not liking it that's you. I will say chapter 5 is definitely my favorite and while I find chapter 1-4 fun in their own ways the build up to chapter 5 and adventuring with these character you have already played was great. Also IV has my favorite cast, great designs and everyone is useful in battle. While I won't say force yourself I highly recommend trying it again after taking a break. Recently I tried playing DQI for the first time and couldn't do it, it felt terrible. The other ones spoiled me I guess.

You didn't like IV? Shit that my favorite with III, I understand what you mean though. I think as time went on there was more story added and less differences between the games. While final fantasy became a different game series with each installment dragon quest stayed the the same, whether or not thats a good thing is up to you.
