I generally agrea with this but dont let not having a stick stop you from playing. Some people just dont like them. Get a good one though. A cheap one will make you feel retarded. I first got a cheap Injustice Fightstick and the stick sucks. Its mushy and doesnt snap back well so it makes fine movements almost impossible.

Building one is an option too. Plenty of resources online for this. Just use good components. If you can find something cheap, you may can upgrade the stick and buttons into something good but check around online to make sure it doesnt take a lot of complicated modding. Some can be as easy as just bolting in new seimitsu or sanwa.

Playing for score is fun but takes a lot of time and dedication. Some games have crazy scores. 1ccs are a nice goal though. Most of these games were designed to eat coins so beating them in 1 credit is a nice accomplishment.
