I still have fun playing vidya as an adult, sure, but like many things I suppose, there's a kind of magic when you're a kid and have been just introduced to it.

Growing up we had a mall arcade and a boardwalk arcade. Me and my brother would beg my parents for a quarter to play one game, and I would usually go straight to SF2 or play something on a Neo Geo MVS cab. The mall arcade is long gone, but we still have the boardwalk one, which a few years ago me and some friends would meet up every Saturday night to play some fightan games. Maintenance of the machines at that place wasn't very good though, and everyone who used to meet up there regularly moved on and it's not much fun to play on broken cabs by yourself, although I'll poke my head in once in a while to see if they got anything new. Even when I go to check out some of the Golf Lands they seem like they have become ghost towns.

You know, all this time, I cursed "that kid", but being such a douche, for getting my hopes up about the silliest shit, for telling me things like 10,000 matches in SSBM would unlock another character.

But now I see, he only did it because he realized he didn't have much time on this world.
