To a large degree I agree with you, I even got bored of KinoFabino's stuff very fast, but I cannot hate the Timbler itself, probably because I find him kind of adorable.

Quick tips on Timblers:
1) They take half damage from explosives.
2) Thus they're best suitable for nails and lightning if you can, due to their DPS.
3) The Super Shotgun is surprisingly viable if you get close enough to have them try to engage you in melee, and you bait and dodge so they whiff their swing, pounding shell after shell, made easier by a good corner or pillar, in case they start zapping again.

Also, Quad Damage is always useful, obviously.
