The first time I ever saw one of Shadow's dreams in ff6 scared the fuck out of me as a kid.

I mean, it was 1994, there wasn't any Internet or anything like that really yet, at least not for me. I'm sitting there in the basement playing ff6, I go to sleep at an inn, a thing you do a thousand times, and suddenly, instead of the jingle and then waking up immediately, the screen goes black. This demonic, creepy growling sound starts coming out of the super nintendo and a long sprite I've never seen before just stands there doing nothing like the girl from the Ring or something.

It freaked me out until dialogue finally started appearing on the screen. When the dream ends and the game goes back to normal I was like, "What the FUCK was that?"
