Plus for bonus poitns there was no "resume download," so if ANYTHING disrupted or if your already-slow speed fell below a certain level, then it would drop with a failure notice, and you'd have to start all over downloading from the beginning again.

When people talk about retro games no one ever mentions that back then when a new one came out in Japan, it took months and even a year before it came out anywhere else due to slow localizers.

I remember being pissed off at the wait, and felt like it deserved to take a hit in sales for coming out at the same time the PS2 came out when all attention was on the new system.

I am glad that problem doesn't exist now, but back then it was enraging as hell. Look at how long it took us to get the "International" version of FFX, and that's because the US version of the regular game took so fucking long to come out that it came out at the same time as the "International" version came out in Japan and everywhere else.

And then I went and signed up for the free Vivi doll only to find they ran out. BUT there were fuckloads being scalped on Ebay for bullshit prices.
