lets talk 8-bit and 16-bit retro horror.

there is something about the low-fi quality and general shittiness of something like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street on the NES that lends itself ot have an extra evil quality about it.

the games make you use your imagination a lot which fill in a lot of the gaps that the graphics can't. compounded with the hauntingly repetitive music and disorienting gameplay, games like these really fucked me up as a kid.

i want more games like this. stuff like Sweet Home was a revelation for me when i discovered it and i learned that horror is truly best when it has technological limitations that make you use your brain in different ways.

clock tower is by far my favorite horror game of all time.
