Every thread there's one guy that says this and I'll continue to fight this.
Flare gun is pretty big brain design, it's lackluster at the start and you'll want another weapon quick. But once you get a full set it becomes a power luxury weapon you can use the altfire with and clear shit out.
Shotgun's a good, fast firing double barrel. Kills shit good.
Tommygun's a solid hitscanning weapon, stunlocks shit good.
Dynamite best throwable in an FPS.
Napalm kills shit good.
Tesla gun is just a juiced up Doom plasma gun with better sounds.

There's only four weapons I don't like, the pitchfork, the spray can, prox bombs, and the voodoo doll. But you're not gonna be using any of those enough for it to be a real problem.

The biggest thing I both love and hate about Doom 2's maps is that there are a lot of cool gimmick stages, but sometimes those gimmicks kinda suck. I kinda feel similar about Evilution, but once you get to plutonia there's less focus on gimmicks and more on just chaotic (and fairly well thought out) encounters.

They could certainly be programmed better in some aspects, but if you consider well done a bullshit difficulty tier then i'm gonna say skill issue. Not even in a condescending way, since WD is definitely harder than, say, UV... but it's not that bad. Extra Crispy was kinda designed for multiplayer but WD was designed to be played normally.

You have to learn how to fight cultists without staying in line of sight. They're also less likely to hit you if you crouch and jump like a madman. Believe me, once you start blowing up those pieces of shit around the corner with dynamite throws, the dopamine rush is amazing. Zombies also stay down if you kill them with the pitchfork or do a huge amount of damage to them in one hit.

I'd suggest starting on episode 2, since it gives you a wider variety of guns to work with. The start of episode 1 is really rough because it's stingy with both ammo and weapon variety.
