I kinda envy kids who grew up in the 80s with Nintendo Power. I had a subscription in the early 00s but it was nothing like this. Close to or even exceeding 100 pages with minimal ads, and loads upon loads of content. If I had this along with an NES in 1988, I'd have been in kid heaven. I'm not gonna pretend to be an 80s boomer or that kids don't have it good nowadays, but fuck man. It's hard to think of anything that had as much of an iron grip on pop culture as Nintendo once had, except for TMNT and Pokemon.

If I ever have a kid, I'm gonna try to introduce them to gaming slowly to make them appreciate it a little better. Internet access would be restricted to where they won't have access to any cheat sites like GameFAQs, only old issues of NP. They wouldn't have any modern systems until they turn 9, maybe older, and I'd gradually add old roms to a flashcart as they got more into them. Just the idea of sitting down and helping them figure out Zelda 1 and draw out a map sounds like a special experience.

What was the Sega equivalent to Nintendo Power? Did they have a magazine like it for the master system or the genesis? Also do you guys still read these magazines and use them for games?
