That weird PSP Bombermen game did it first, Pink is obviously a woman with a figure in her normal form but her "pixel" form is the classic Pink Bomberman sprite, suggesting the standard design can represent male or female.

They've sort of been playing with this in games like Saturn Bomberman Fight, where Golem mostly seems like a pretty chill guy and is mismatched from the rest of them. Not sure why they made him pilot a golem suit when they could've just made him smaller like the older games to begin with but whatever.

Stating for the record I dislike this decision. I get that it's a sly reference to the Land series where they translated Pretty as Pink in English versions but in the long-run it's kind of stupid to have Pretty as basically the original Pink. Whenever Pink made appearances in the classic series (outside of Dastardly Bomber appearances), it's always been implied that she's a knockout that even the main Bombermen find attractive, but having her be part of the Bros (even if robots and not by blood) makes that really weird in retrospect. Doesn't help that Karaoke Bomber is Sexy Bomber in Japanese and she straight-up hits on Black... Plus, wasn't she a cyborg, impying that she's NOT a real Bomberman?
