I personally use real hardware with flashcarts.

As for what I approve of, I will have more respect for someone who uses the original hardware, because it usually indicates that they are more passionate about the hobby. I have a similar level of respect for those who make an effort to emulate in the most authentic way that they can.

I don't like it when people emulate with a stretched resolution, shitty filters, keyboard/touchscreen input, and save states - but it's not a big deal to me. Regardless of their methods, I still think it's a good thing when more people are getting into retro gaming. I'd rather that than people collecting games and/or consoles and peripherals and not using them.

It's nice to see that /v/'s taste isn't entirely bad. I don't really go there as I deal with enough fuckboys at my job

That's good to hear. There's no shame in owning a flash cart and for some systems it's actually the smartest option. The N64 for instance benefits greatly from it since buying carts of 3-4 popular N64 games will put you to the price of a flash cart by itself.

You just have to keep in mind that some flash carts for some systems aren't compatible with all of the games for that system (like SNES). N64 v3 Everdrive has 100% compatibility with all official games and I believe the Genesis flash carts are in a similar situation.

Really it all comes down to the love of the games. Owning a cart of a game you love is all well and good, but at the end of the day it's still just a wafer of silicon with chips encased in plastic. There are more important things in the world than that.

What a weird selection of games and consoles, as if you are focusing on one particular e-celeb.

So, i played CD-i as a kid and it sucked. But now e-celebs played it and they said it sucked. Do I have to change my opinion now to be a 'hip' contrarian like most of /vr/? God damnit, there will soon be no bad games anymore...

A for effort, but you'd always have to stand afront of it or sit on a stool, not sure if that is so comfy playing for a while... but I bet he was the coolest nerd back in the day
