For the series so focused on drifting, drift mechanics in Ridge Racer games are very lackluster. Daytona USA and Gran Turismo 1 do it much better. Touge Max G might be even better in this regard

Option games are kind of cool but Touge Max 2 and Max G are far superior. Better looking, more cars and very cool drifting mechanics.

Been playing a bit of Cave's Touge series, more specifically Touge Max G. It's pretty damn cool, wish I knew Japanese to understand the VN story segments. I tried the PS2 entry but it feels >very< off. Some years ago someone did a translation of the last game in the series for the og Xbox so if I manage to find my Xbox I might try it out.
