I don't know about favorite, but I do dig some of the old FC RPG covers. Granted with system limitations they tended to be victims of the whole "awesome cover art but the actual game is basically just dinky little SD sprites" deal. It wasn't until the SFC era that I felt games could really live up to the promise of the detailed, lively box art.

Like Metal Max here has some badass box art, but the game graphics are mostly lol-worthy.
