Simply laughable. If anything, N64 had some of the grittiest, goriest games of the gen. Find me anything like pic related in a PS1 or Saturn game. On top of Turok you had Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, the Quake games, Doom 64, Resident Evil 2, Body Harvest, Killer Instinct, Conker... hell, even Ocarina of Time was pretty dark and gritty. Reminder that PS1 was the console with the little purple dragon, orange bandicoot, happy anime characters and a fucking rapping cartoon dog. Pretending that the N64 was only made for "younger audiences" is ridiculous unless you intend to apply the same logic to the other consoles. All consoles of the gen had games marketed towards both the young and old, and all consoles of the gen were fucking awesome. The very fact you even care about whether a console has "mature" games is pretty indicative of your shit taste. All that matters is good gameplay.

But I'm not the one defending the PS1. Seriously, if you want mediocre games, that's the console for you. It has a quality to shovelware ratio matched only by the Wii. There is barely anything worth playing on it, and most of the "good" games are spread across an extremely limited number of genres.

Lmao no actually it was aimed at anyone with a functioning brain stem that actually enjoys good game. The PS1 is the console with the countless cartoony anime games, N64 had the games with the blood and violence. Pic related.

You just went full retard. Only a "couple"? It literally has one of the best shooter libraries of any console ever made, certainly leagues ahead of the PS1's pathetic offerings. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Doom 64, Turok series, Duke Nukem 64, Hexen, Quake, Quake II... the list goes on.

I always find it funny when Sony fans start talking about the N64 as some kind of "kiddy console". It had all of the best action-oriented games, and the bloodiest/most mature ones as well. I always thought of the PS1 as being the childish console because almost all of the popular games were either SM64-knockoff mascot platformers or JRPGs with little cutesy anime characters. N64 was the console with the blood and gore, the skill-based games and the arcade feel.
