There's always someone that doesn't like a given remake, but the closest I've noticed to having universal praise is Zero Mission, and I suspect half the reason is because it includes NES Metroid (although Metroid Prime arguably did it better).

Eh, not really. The nostalgic first Area is 1:1 but the rest of the game has mostly different layouts, themes, and some boss encounters. It's a soft reboot. If you've played the trilogy, it becomes pretty apparent that it's the true sequel to MetaFight, which the devs have been hinting at since at least Zero 2; older Blaster Master sequels that continue off the western localization now seem to be either part of its own discontinued continuity or are heavily retconned in some form.

no, the closest would be RE1 remake, but that does not replace the original in any way, you should still play both. Zero Mission is alright but too handholdy.
I didn't like the majority of remakes, and the more recent a remake is, the more surefire it is to suck nigger dick.
