They're all emulators.

The PS1 is the worst by far. It runs a freely available, open-source stock emulator (pcsx rearmed, IIRC) that isn't optimized for any of the games, and several of the games are inexplicably the PAL versions for no reason other than sheer incompetence by whichever unknown pajeet team made it. Awful facsimile console, but its hardware is good enough that it makes for a decent emulation box once it's hacked open.

The Genesis and TG16 minis are using in-house emulators that were optimized for the specific games on the console by the company M2. M2 has previously worked on several of Sega's game compilations. They are very accurate but they're not 100% perfect due to game specific optimizations and using them as the emulator for other games on the same console once hacked leads to mixed results.

The NES and SNES use the in-house emulators made by Nintendo for their virtual consoles. They are, not surprisingly since Nintendo themselves are emulating their own consoles, very accurate with the emulators optimized for specific games. However, because they're game optimized, there are a small handful of games that straight up won't run at all because Nintendo never bothered to implement that feature for virtual consoles (notably any Super Scope game, among some others).

The Neo Geo minis (the mini arcade plus the arcade stick) are using an optimized version of Final Burn Alpha for their games. Theoretically, if a game can run on FBA then it can run on one of these, but it was much easier to hack the Arcade Stick Pro so there's less info about compatibility with the original mini but so far, so good.

I like Pat and I miss Ian on the podcast but I really think that Pat should look into getting a co-host. Without Ian there it's just Pat talking to himself and it's kinda weird, maybe even take some questions from people or have a call in show?

As for the certain NES Guidebook, I'm way too cheap to pay for it but if I found it at the flea market or thrift store for a few bucks I'd buy it. I wish somebody would scan and dump all the old guidebooks about NES/SNES and GB, that would be pretty pretty pretty good.

Wanna know why I don't care much for the newest gaming hype? Because in my mind I always think to myself that if I dropped out of the next gen of gaming (take this upcoming 8th, for example) I have a fucking - PLETHORA - of backlogged older gen consoles/games to play. Now don't misunderstand: I may buy the new gen whatever, but... well again take this 8th gen. If, for whatever reason, I decide to not get a WiiU, PS4, or CrossBOne, I would have every console that came before them, and every game thereon, to play. There's not enough time in my life to go through a formidable portion of that enormous of a backlog to satiate me. I have the NES and its entire library, the PS1 and its entire library, the Genesis and its entire library, the XBox and its entire library, the GameBoy Advance and its entire library etc etc etc. There is a palpable wealth of gaming in all that. So, not to say I won't buy any new gen thing, but if I decided not to, I have quite enough to keep me busy til my dying days, LITERALLY.

Anyone else think this way? Anyone else find comfort in these thoughts, like I do? I guess for those who just HAVE to have the new stuff (the new innovations and all) then this doesn't apply to you. But if this does, then I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

Wow guys. Wow. I had no idea this thread would last this long. There's 460+ posts of stuff to sort through. I'm quite sure I'll be up to my neck in romhacks now. Good times anons, thanks!

Also, I do not mind review discussion at all! This is a romhack general thread true enough. My emphasis was on recommending romhacks so anons knew where to get them. That's always been my hang-up part. So please, suggest and discuss away!

Also, if I'm not here, some anon please feel free to start a new thread when the time comes. Just please link it to this one. Thanks again for all the great posts!!!!

Holy hell I love this board, you guys talk about some good shit I can relate and add to.

1) To me, I love Resident Evil that centers around ZOMBIES and UMBRELLA.

2) The movies are so damn horrible, canon-wise IMHO.

RE4 had decent gameplay, but I HATE the story direction they went.

HOLY SHIT!

I still have my 101% file on my cart, so I've done ALL of this... but damn I never sat down and did the numbers like this. I stand firmly, utterly corrected anon. This game definitely has it for collectibles.
