I remember the FF series being so insanely popular during the PS1 era that I always had conversations with my friends at school of what other types of games could be RPG's just like the FF games.
We always thought how cool it would be if there was a Sonic RPG secretely in the works. We brought up the topic ALL the time. We always wondered what would happen if Square made a Sonic RPG just like how they made a Mario RPG.
The reality that we eventually got was unfortunate compared to what we actually envisioned.
