/vr/ - Retro Games

So? Is it any good? I'm trying to surprise my hubby.

Just got off the phone with the wife. Apparently she wants a "Retron 5". Something about too many game consoles cluttering the place up. Figured I'd ask you guys about it. Is it worth it?

What do you guys think of the Retron 5?

i thought id come here to ask since you guys could be experts on this

should i get this system? i hear it can play roms? and japanese games i dont know much about it

dont get a crappy snap on case for a phone. find somthing like the retron 5 or something wit an emulation compatibility. the retron 5 has an sd card spot to install roms and are compatable with nes, snes, genisis, mega drive, game boy, game boy color and advanced, with inhaned resulution and controller outlets (the default controller sucks ass) has a game genie built in the system. it does lean more tword the emulation aspect. does have 720p

What does /vr/ think of the retron 5? My local game store has it in stock and was thinking of picking one up since I have a 40" lcd and my retro looks like shit on it, but the retron has hdmi and upscales (i think?)

So who else has picked one of these up? What do you think? Personally I like it but there's a few downsides.

Pros:
-Surprisingly faithful emulation for a clone console
-The SD card save backups and save state capability are neat.
-The controller cross-compatibility
-The HDMI doesn't look nearly as muddy as an old RCA hooked up to a flatscreen.

Cons-
-No Famicom Disk System, Game Boy accessories, or Genesis add-on support.
-Only has HDMI out so you can't hook it to an old CRT TV for a nostalgic feel or to use light guns.
-The included controller is awkward to hold and the buttons are too 'clicky'
