Lowering the light is a good idea, I've been taking photos with my bright bedroom light on, and the second monitor tends to shine on the screen as well.
I'm operating at 80 ISO, which is the lowest my camera supports, and I manually focus all of my shots since my camera shits itself trying to focus on the CRT.

I'll see if I can get a better shot by minimizing all other light.
