/vr/ - Retro Games

Is there any advantage to getting a PSX and installing either PSIO or XStation over just getting a modded PS2, softmodding it and loading PSX games off of that? Haven't owned a Sony product in years at this point but I'm interested in playing some PSX games on my CRT.

I dug my old PS2 out of storage today. I'd like to get everything I need to mod this to play from a library of downloaded games off a hard drive, but I have no idea how to go about doing this. Any tips?

Will it (and PC games of that era) ever be accepted as /vr/?

Is it possible to use a keyboard on PS2? I know some games have support to but I mean at least being able to acess the settings with it.
The joycons I got are crap and I cant fix them now.

What are the requirements for running isos on a PS2 these days?

I never bought swapmagic back in the day, but ive heard loading games has advanced since then and theres apparently a hard drive method?

What's the minimum requirements? Also before you shout piracy I own 2 copies of xenosaga and my old console wont read either of them. Thats why im pursuing ISOs.
