Sorry I've spent so long trying to make this thread but every time it feels like too long and vague for anyone to give a shit. What I want to discuss is whether or not it is possible to really fall in love with a game the same way as an adult as we did when we were kids.
For a quick example: FFVI is praised just as much, if not more, than FFVII and I played the latter when I was a kid and it has really been in my heart since. I tried playing FFVI more recently but I give up on it after a few hours of gameplay (most recently I got to what I think is the middle of the game but quit again), with none of the characters or events resonating with me at all.
Is it just not to my taste for some odd reason or am I too jaded and emotionally occupied as an adult to form a connection with it the way I would have as a kid?

Creating atmosphere, theme and mood, world and location designs.
But Square just says "whip us a game logo and some character designs", and he kind of sucks with the latter, let's admit it.
