Same. The SNES is one of my top 5 video game consoles of all time. You've probably already played it, but Chrono Trigger is a high recommendation from me. While it doesn't have as much replay as other games but it is one of my most favorite games and probably why I'm here. Having preordered it based on a tiny article in a magazine and my strong faith in Square games, it lived up to the hype and exceeded it by a wide margin. Everyone who played it, loves it.

Give Konami and Capcom games a try. They usually feature tight arcade styled mechanics that I like.

We try to, but work and life just takes up so much of our time. Most of my friends are still playing Halo, but it's been a few months since we really played some SFC games.

Like arcades, it was like a preview to the future. As all the games (and Transformers) I liked had the "made in Japan" marked on them, plus they got the games first, it was natural to seek the games from the source. Magazines would often show off stuff from Japan, and I started with the SFC. It was pretty much known by Sega Saturn owners that they had to import back then, every person I met which had the system imported, so that was normal. It was even better when the PS2 came along, since the games got real cheap in junk bins.

In that timeframe, I think I prefer some PCE shooting games more, but that is a really good game.

I would recommend emulation. The next option would be flashcarts and ODEs. Old Japanese console games were pretty cheap, since I am used to seeing those loose carts in junk bins for ¥100JPY. So those Mario Worlds and Yoshi's Islands have appreciated 1200%.

It was a very tough game. I still have not beaten the game yet. The co-op is great fun. Even got the spiritual sequel, Heavenly Guardian, just because it was so fun. I had no idea a new game was going to be released, which is great news. It is very charming indeed.

Probably depends on the kind of game you're looking for. That has the game, manual, and box, in addition to being a title which requires little to no Japanese knowledge. Games like Derby Stallion or the Dragon Quest games should still be pretty inexpensive.

Depends on what you're looking for. The SNES has a lot of great games spanning all sorts of genres. From the list you gave, it seems like you favor adventure/RPG titles, so try out Tales of Phantasia, Gunman's Proof, the Gaia series, Seiken Densetsu series, and Breath of Fire series. The system has a lot to offer, plenty which are good, even more if you're willing to try other genres too.

It works the other way around for me. Aside from PC, I think I have/want the most on 360, followed by Saturn, then SNES/SFC. For Sony game consoles, the newer the system, the less titles I want/have for it. Getting excited for games doesn't happen much anymore, probably because I am really old, but I was really impressed and enjoyed the demo to the 7 remake.
