the real sovl of the game genie was putting in random codes to mess with games. my friend and i would stay up late doing it all night. it was hilarious. a lot of times the games would crash or just not launch, but other times it would glitch the music out (and sometimes sound very cool) or even change the graphics. the manual that came with the game genie even gave a crash course on deliberately making your own codes (which was far too advanced for me to comprehend at the time).

yeah the gameshark for ps1 made my edgelord self feel like a hacker. i remember using codes on the re2 demo disc. also one time i took the gameshark out while my brother was playing something. it wiped his memory card that had full completion ff7 save file on it. good times
