Best? I dunno, the things we value from games not only vary for each person, they contradict each other. Some people want to be told a story, some people want to tell their own. Some people want to be cheered up, some want to reflect on their own sadness. Maybe you grew up reading books, maybe you watched lots of cartoons. There's no one-size-fits-all "best game".

Donkey Kong Country thread
I just got into these games, can't put em down. Nearing the end of my 2 and Returns playthroughs so I'm starting 3 and Land III. Plan on getting Tropical Freeze soon. I used to think Wario had the best 2D platformers but I think the Kongs take the crown for me now. What good fucking games. Favorite level is probably the one where Snakey Chantey plays, I really like that song and that animal buddy.
Sorry for mentioning non-retro games but it's mostly a retro series so hopefully it's okay
