Never played RMD or the pocket thing, but between JF1 and 2 I probably prefer 2 a little bit more, both are great though.

That's a respectable opinion although Ape Escape have some action elements that detract from the platforming. JF's main thing is the platforming, and it's done in a unique way too. That's why I consider it the best.
I agree about Crash and Spyro.

JF really was the only good platformer in first person.
The way it's implements and how you can control your jets depending on how much you press the button, and also being able to calculate how you're gonna fall between falling speed and distance, made it quite a unique experience. Jumping on modern first person platformers go for a "realistic" cinematic style, with parkour cutscenes, but it has no real "platforming" element to them, it's just a first person shooter with cool jumping visuals, slower too.

Exact was dissolved and its members scattered throughout SCEJ, I wonder if they're even still there.

A lot of the younger userbase don't even remember JF, so they think it's some kind of obscure hipster thing.

JF was featured heavily in many magazines and was one of the big early PS games. JF1 in 1995 and JF2 in 1996.
The thing is that as years went by and more games started coming out on PS1, like MGS, FF VII, and also Crash and Spyro, JF series was left behind and many people kind of forgot about it, but it's by no means obscure or hipster.
