Evening /vr/

So Chrono Trigger seems to get a lot of love, and rightfully so imo.

But what does /vr/ think of Radical Dreamers, and by extention, Chrono Cross? A friend of mine said he enjoyed the overall game of CC, but hated that the story kinda fucked up Chrono Trigger. I've not played Chrono Cross yet, but I've obtained a copy and plan on playing it at some point in the near future.

I watched a long play of Radical Dreamers, and it seemed really interesting. Even though its mostly a text driven, choose your path story type of game, i found it quite fascinating for some reason. I'll probably end up buying a reproduction cart for it at some point as well.

tl;dr

What are /vr/'s thoughts on Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross?

The best text adventure or the best text adventure?

>that scenario where Magus was actually an interstellar cop with a giant mecha
>that scene where Kid and Serge have to crowd under a desk and he starts to lose it
>the fucking piranha fountain

Is this worth playing? I'm surprised nobody seems to mention it in Chrono threads.

There are plenty of N64s that haven't rusted into dirt yet. Even Saturn, which is in the same boat for accuracy isn't really endangered yet. The focus of extreme accuracy is on systems that are 20+ years old. The ones that are actually getting scarce are nicely antiquated to the point they can be completely replicated.

Really the most significant element of gaming that gets lost wasn't even mentioned by OP. It's the online content that was stored exclusively on the devs' servers. SatellaView is the only real /vr/ related place that there is significant danger of loss and there's a scene in Japan of people chasing down intact EPROM carts with that material on it, much like they more or less successfully archived most of the FDS kiosk-only games.

A vast amount of XBL content is probably lost already though.
