It's not really a big issue for me, at least. You can still play if you're not online (in the Xbox One version at least which is the version of the Bethesda releases I have) and play any mods you've downloaded previously.

I just really like the way Bethesda is doing it in that a lot of these really classic mods and even some new ones like REKKR (despite what John Romero might tell you) that deserve way more attention besides just the online doom community and they are now getting it with Beth curating and adding mods regularly. Consolefags get to experience them and that's a good thing in my book.
